When Saniyah Turned Seven!

As I reflect on 7 years ago when I birthed my first child into the world, I can't help but to think about the woman she has helped me develop into. Yes, I owe her much of the credit for my growth not just as a mother but as a WOMAN. She set the tone and constantly pushes me to another level, causing me to take self inventory of who I am verses who I plan to become. Quite naturally I  have a vision for the type of person I want my daughter to mature into, and it's going to take constant change within myself to help her get there! In order for her to reach her greatest potential I must be striving to reach mine right?! We  are our child's first teachers, so setting a strong foundation early on is COMPLETELY necessary! Have I mastered the art of being a mother? NO, but my daughter moves me more and more in the right direction each and every day. I previously wrote a blog titled "10 Things I Want To Teach My Daughter" so today I'm following up with a few of my favorite character traits that I love and admire about her.....

KINDNESS

She's the sweeeeeetest child....NO, like on another level. I don't mean like the ordinary sweetness that most children have. Saniyah has something a little extra. I promise I'm not saying this because she's my child, many friends and strangers have expressed this to me about her. She's the kind that will stick up for another child if someone is treating them unfair, the kind that will share what she has down to her last. The kind that is sincerely hurt and confused when people are mean. She has a level of kindness that comes from deep within her sweet little soul, she's happy making other people happy!

ARTICULATE

Whenever I take the time to sit and talk with her about life and how she feels about things, I'm always amazed with her skill to articulate herself. I mean the girl literally blows me away with her conversation and self expression, even when talking to others she carries a confidence that you rarely see in 7 year old girls. She's very mature to say the least :)

SILLY

She gets it honestly from her dad, he's BEYOND funny. I've noticed that Saniyah see's how much he makes me laugh so she tries to emulate him and do the same, but let's be clear there's a thin line between silly and actually being funny enough to make people laugh. Saniyah is just plain old SILLY!!!! and 90% of the time I'm laughing at her attempt to be funny. What I love about her is she genuinely cracks herself up which always ends up with us laughing together :)

Ultimately I feel blessed with the privilege to raise a daughter whom already carries the characteristics of an amazing human being. As I teach her to be GREAT in this life, she in return is teaching me!
