Lindsay is the BOSSMOM behind the brand Lot801, it's a children's brand for the unorthodox family. Lot801 strives to create unisex clothing that appeals to both the little punks and the fashionable moms. I knew she was our kind of mama when I learned she refers to herself as a "Gangsta Boss". I'm always interested in how a day in the life looks for a mom who's running her home along with a business, so I was delighted when Lindsay agreed to share. Let's get to it!!
Hey guys! When Shah asked me to share a day in the life of Lindsay, I was so excited because I think everyone has this misconception that us working moms have everything figured out, ha that couldn't be farther from the truth. Everyday is a struggle and an adjustment. For me, two days are never the same. But every day I get closer and closer to that perfect formula that works for us (if there is such a thing).
Because my daughter has school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, those are more of my working days. So I thought I'd share a typical Tuesday.
I am NOT an early morning type of gal, so as much as I'd like to report that I wake up at the crack of dawn to get my workout in, drink my morning coffee and make breakfast for the family before my little one wakes up... I can't. Instead, I wake up to the sound of Allie's little footsteps coming down the hall from her room (usually around 7 - 7:30 am). My husband gets up and ready for work and I make Allie breakfast, get her dressed, do her hair, brush teeth and make her lunch for school.
Hubby goes off to work and Allie's off to school (around 8:50 am). This is when I lock myself in my office for the next few hours and blast my music (usually Beyonce, Taylor Swift or Jay-Z Pandora station). Check emails for the day. Work on social media content. Continue working on the next collection that Lot801 will be releasing. Review all current orders and make sure my seamstresses have everything they need to fulfill them. Work on any blog posts for Lot801 Marketing or e-course content.
I always, ALWAYS make sure I take a break for lunch. I usually try to get out of the house for lunch in order to get some fresh air and refresh my brain. When I get back around 1:00 pm, I start wrapping things up before Allie gets dropped off around 1:45 pm. After Allie get's home, I try to make my focus on her. This is her time with mommy and she knows that. We play dolls or go for a walk. Then she has "quiet time" around 2:30 pm. She no longer takes naps but she lays down to rest her body and watch a movie for about 1 1/2 hours while mommy gets some more work done. She's usually ready to get up around 4:00 pm and we play a little bit more until around 5:00 pm when we start getting dinner ready. I always try to include Allie in this part of the day, she likes to help mom in the kitchen.
Hubby gets home around 6:00 pm and we eat dinner as a family. No TV and no phones are allowed at dinner. After dinner we hang out as a family, whether that's working on a puzzle together or playing hide and seek. We start to settle down and get ready for bed around 7:45 pm and then relax on the couch together for about 15 minutes. At 8:00 pm , it's Allies bed time. She sleeps in her own room and we allow her to watch a movie on her iPad for about 15 minutes before we come take it away and it's time to go to sleep.
At this time, if I have a bit more work to get done, I'll go back to my office for a bit to wrap the day up then the hubby and I always make sure to make time for each other. Usually around 9:00 pm we'll watch a movie on the couch and keep working on our puzzle, then head to bed around 10:00 pm.
Go to sleep then wake up and do it all over again.
