BOSSMOM: Taylor Jay

What was your biggest challenge being a young mom? I was 14 years old when I had my daughter so I was a child myself, I faced many challenges in my life between the age of 12-18. I will be honest this time of my life was very rough, I prayed often, and my faith and trust in God is what brought me through. One of my biggest challenges was making the choice of me giving up and becoming another statistic, or making something out of my life and being able to fulfill all my dreams all while raising a amazing human being that totally relied on me.

How long have you been in business? I opened my first business at the age of 23, but I have finally found my passion and love for designing since 2012.

How has being a mother inspired you in your business? As a mother I understand the responsibility we have to our family, children, friends, work, business and of course to self. This helps me understand my client better, a woman who seeks clothing she can rely on because her many roles require comfort, quality, versatility and style on a daily basis

What inspires your style? Wow, my style lately is chucks, designer jeans and Taylor Jay cardigan wraps, lol I have little time to put together complete outfits, but when I do I usually wear my own line or vintage pieces... I am not big on trends so alot of the current fashion is not so exciting... Comfort first and the rest will follow...

What do you feel every woman should own in her closet? A awesome moto jacket (never let's you down) and a Taylor Jay cardigan wrap... these staple pieces make any bummie day a stylish one...

What does being a BOSSMOM mean to you? A woman who handles EVERYTHING she takes care of her family first, runs and operates her own business or JOB and keeps it all in order all while being fabulous, I don't necessarily mean wardrobe I mean owning whom and what she stands for. She lives to inspire, empower and love. She is the BOSS and she was given the most beautiful role in the world "MOTHERHOOD". My daughter is now 21 years old, but my BOSSMOM hat still stands strong, all my decisions are made with her future in mind FIRST.

What advice would you give to a young mom who aspires to be an entrepreneur but she may feel discouraged and overwhelmed? Never allow FEAR to speak or decide for you.. Believe in yourself and work hard at your craft to perfect it. You must put in work.... and my best line is WHY NOT? JUST DO IT.... Failure is not a option or the final call it's just training. Trust in God, what is for you will be...
